Yearbook CO

C/LTJG DE LA CRUZ, APRIL

Hi, I’m c/LTJG De la Cruz. I’m a senior, and this year will be my fourth year with the unit and my third year in Charlie platoon (ch-ch-ch BANG!). I am the Public Affairs Officer and also in charge of the Yearbook. I moderate the website and do all the communications to get our unit exposure, so if you have any questions on the site know that the questions are directed to me. I also am in charge of the yearbook publication so if any one of you cadets have an interest in graphic designing, etc come be a part of my staff. As you can tell from my jobs, I like getting in touch with my creative side to make all sorts of arty designs. I’ve gotten to where I am today by being involved. I joined the unit freshman year, wanting to gain confidence and discipline. And that is what I’ve gotten from it. It’s not that easy to balance everything but it can be done with discipline. I play on the varsity: tennis, soccer and softball teams and busy myself with my fun job at Jack in the Box. I like to volunteer my free spring season time umpiring and coaching for the North Valley Milpitas Bobby Sox softball league where I once use to play. After school you can find me on some sort of athletic field or working. During my freshman and sophomore years I joined DTWA for a short while and Color Guard. Last year I was Bravo Platoon's MPO and later PC. I have gone to Mini-Boot Camp (BLT) which was a good challenge and to the Thousand Oaks Youth Leadership Conference. During my sophomore year I received the Order of the World Wars Award. High school can be as fun as you make it to be, so just go out and do what it is you want out of it. I'm a NY Yankee fan and am a Derek Jeter fanatic. I just love watching his crazy plays at short, and one of these days I'm hoping to finally go to an actual MLB game. Yeah, you heard it, I'VE NEVER BEEN TO A GAME and being the baseball fan that I am, you'd think I'd have at least gone to one. After high school I plan to go college and go through commissioning to become a Naval Officer. GO NAVY!
